About me

I hold a Diploma in Counselling, achieved on the Diploma course at Dartington run by Cornwall College and the University of Plymouth. This was the only course in Devon at the time accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am a member of the BACP and work consistently with its Ethical Framework.

I have experienced how the counselling relationship can support us in exploring feelings and experiences, and understanding them more deeply. For those who want it, counselling can contribute to transformative personal change, as well as helping to resolve specific issues. I believe these possibilties are there for each of us, no matter what our background or circumstances. In a relationship where we feel understood, valued and accepted, we can become freer to choose our own path. I am person-centred, and open to ideas from other counselling models. My background is in general counselling, although I also have specific experience of working with sexual and/or violent abuse, those with psychiatric histories, and also with loss/grieving. I have a special interest in working within the person-centred model with compulsive behaviour, trauma, anger, and also with clients diagnosed within the medical model with schizophrenia or psychosis.

My aim is for us to create together a unique way of working that is helpful to you.
